For the third year in a row, GER3 is providing assistance to war-affected Ukrainians. With generous funding from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, GER3 will provide firewood to over 920 households and insulate over 395 homes in the Sumy and Kherson Oblasts.
We’re pleased to share this video highlighting our most recent winterization activities, with feedback directly from recipients.
At the time of filming, 641 homes in the Krolevets Raion (Sumy Oblast) had received top-quality firewood, delivered pre-chopped and stacked to recipient yards. GER3 had insulated 44 homes, including window and door replacement, as well as roof insulation. Due to high cost and other vulnerability factors (age, illness, disability, etc.), beneficiaries are unable to harvest firewood and insulate their homes themselves.
With Ukrainian winter temperatures averaging between 17-21°F, a properly heated home is crucial for Ukrainians to survive the winter months. With electrical heating unavailable in rural areas and Russian forces relentlessly target Ukraine’s energy grid, GER3’s firewood and home insulation assistance serves a vital wartime need for vulnerable Ukrainians.
GER3 partnered with District 1 for this project’s implementation. We are excited to continue our efforts in the coming months!
