GER3 has officially launched its Jamaica program in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in late 2025, marking an important milestone in our commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild.
With funding from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the program will support more than 10,000 people through a combination of home repairs, debris removal, education services, and the distribution of emergency shelter kits and relief supplies.
A key component of the program is GER3’s Cash for Work (C4W) initiative, which creates employment opportunities while accelerating community recovery. The program currently employs 10 local Jamaicans who are removing debris from four public sites, helping restore safe access to essential community spaces.
Over the coming months, GER3 expects to assist approximately 450 households and distribute 660 shelter kits and vouchers to families affected by the hurricane. Operations are centered in St. Elizabeth Parish, including the communities of Parottee, Hilltop, Allentown, and surrounding areas.
By combining immediate recovery assistance with local employment opportunities, GER3 is helping communities rebuild stronger while supporting long-term resilience. We look forward to sharing updates as the program progresses and its impact continues to grow.
