For the third consecutive year, GER3 is helping vulnerable families in Ukraine prepare for winter, providing life-saving assistance to communities affected by the ongoing war.
With generous funding from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, GER3 will deliver firewood to more than 920 households and insulate more than 395 homes across the Sumy and Kherson Oblasts. The program helps ensure that families can safely heat their homes during the harsh winter months, when average temperatures range from 17 to 21 degrees Fahrenheit.

At the time of filming, GER3 had delivered high-quality, pre-cut firewood to 641 households in Krolevets Raion, Sumy Oblast, with each delivery stacked directly in recipients’ yards. The team had also completed insulation work on 44 homes, including roof insulation and the replacement of windows and doors to improve heat retention.
Many of the families supported through the program are older adults, people living with disabilities, or individuals with serious health conditions who are unable to gather firewood or make essential home repairs on their own. At the same time, damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has made reliable heating increasingly difficult, particularly in rural communities where electrical heating is often unavailable.
By providing firewood, home insulation, and critical repairs, GER3 is helping families stay safe and warm throughout the winter while strengthening their resilience during an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
