Last month, GER3 partnered with the LA Community Fire Brigade to deliver a Home Ignition Zone training for residents in Altadena, equipping homeowners with practical strategies to reduce wildfire risk and improve the resilience of their properties.
The training introduced participants to proven home hardening techniques, including creating a five-foot defensible space around their homes, installing ember-resistant mesh over vents, and maintaining a six-inch noncombustible vertical clearance around structures. Together, these measures can significantly reduce the likelihood of a home igniting during a wildfire.
Participants also received a complimentary 360-degree wildfire risk assessment from GER3’s partner, Madronus. The personalized assessments provide homeowners with a tailored roadmap for strengthening their properties and preparing to pursue IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home certification.
By combining education with practical tools and individualized guidance, GER3 is helping communities take meaningful steps to prepare for future wildfire seasons. Expanding access to wildfire resilience resources remains a core part of our commitment to supporting communities most vulnerable to wildfire.
