Emergency in Venezuela
Communities are recovering from devastating earthquakes. Help GER³ deliver urgent support.
Overview
On 24 June 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela within seconds of each other, causing widespread damage across Carabobo, La Guaira and surrounding areas. Homes, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential infrastructure were damaged, while debris and unsafe buildings continue to disrupt access and daily life for affected communities. GER³ deployed an assessment team within days of the disaster and is now working alongside local partners, technical specialists and community leaders to identify priority needs and support early recovery. Our focus includes assessing damaged schools and community infrastructure, improving the safety of affected spaces, and exploring practical debris-management solutions that can help restore essential services and create the conditions for longer-term recovery.
General focus areas
Safe schools and education recovery
We’re working with local partners and engineers to assess earthquake-damaged schools, identify priority repairs and help make learning spaces safe for students to return. GER³ has supported inspections of 19 schools so far, alongside technical reviews and targeted repairs to address immediate safety risks.
Debris management and safer communities
Damaged buildings and debris continue to create risks around schools, homes and community infrastructure. We’re providing practical guidance and technical support for safer debris removal and management, with an emphasis on solutions that communities and local organizations can put into practice.
Homes and community infrastructure
As families begin returning home, GER³ is exploring practical approaches to safer home repairs and the recovery of damaged community infrastructure. This includes technical guidance on self-repair, basic retrofitting and targeted improvements that can help restore access to homes and essential community spaces.
