WORLD has featured GER³’s winterization work in Ukraine in a new article examining how communities are preparing for another difficult winter as attacks on energy infrastructure continue.
In Weapons of winter, journalist William Fleeson examines the challenges facing households in Ukraine, particularly in southern and front-line areas where rising costs, damaged infrastructure and the high cost of heating fuel are increasing winter risks.
GER³ Ukraine Country Director Anna Grace Calhoun spoke with WORLD about the cost of firewood and the amount households need to heat their homes through winter. The article also highlights GER³’s work delivering firewood to hard-to-reach rural communities and supporting households through insulation improvements and energy-efficiency checks.
